WORK EXPERIENCE

Curriculum Manager of Music and Events

August 2018 - July 2023

  • Line Manager of up to 5 full-time music tutors, reporting to the Senior Management Team (SMT)

  • Curriculum Manager for 5 Music Performance, 4 Music Production and 1 Live Events course, ranging from levels 1 to 3.

  • Management, implementation and facilitation of internal verification processes and sampling windows

  • Quality assurance across the music department, as well as observing, coaching and developing team members, alongside the Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) Lead and Lead IV/Quality Nominee

  • Creation of own, and quality assurance / standardisation of team resources, assessment plans, assignment briefs and schemes of work for RSL MUSPRA / CMI Qualifications.

  • Teaching levels 1 - 3 on Music Performance, Business, Live Events and Promotion. Delivery to ages 16 - 19, up to age 24 for students with an EHCP or adult learners (AEB).

  • Line management meetings and 1-2-1 informal sessions with all tutors to review progress, development and areas of concern

  • Weekly team meetings with the team regarding progress, causes for concern and AOB

  • Solving and rectifying any issues within the department - staff, assessment, learners, facilities and resources

  • Training and supporting newly-qualified and unqualified staff within the music department on all processes; identifying training needs and required development for effective practice

  • Mentoring a small caseload of students; meeting weekly for one to ones, as well as being main point of call for students; assisting with MH needs, liaison with external parties; informing DSL on any concerns

  • Implementing departmental strategies for behavioural management and attendance interventions

  • Ensuring current knowledge and awareness is up-to-date within essential areas such as Prevent, Safeguarding, GDPR, etc

  • Identifying areas for development, both departmental and interdepartmental; working with SMT and other Curriculum Managers, to improve and enhance processes, procedures and actions

  • Staff Representative on Big Creative Training Board (2021 - 22)
